Relying entirely on a handheld GPS device when tramping or biking in big areas can be unsafe. These devices should be taken only as one part of a bigger navigation program. When preparing any outside action outdoorsmen should forever bring a published map and compass in case the handheld GPS device misfunctions, becomes broken, or drains of battery power.

Deborah and David Legg could see the day when they and their daughter,
Michele, would be in a better place.
After 27 years in their Sussex ranch home, they were eager to move into a much
larger house wholly designed around Michele’s special needs. They had
carefully planned it, using copious notes and experiences garnered from their
daughter’s 28 years of life.
The home’s wide hallways and large rooms would accommodate her
wheelchair. Exterior doors were flush with the grade. The garage was sized for
a van with a wheelchair lift.
“We made the house larger so that Michele’s wheelchair could go
around the kitchen table, go around the snack bar, go into the family
room,” Deborah Legg said. “It was designed where she could be with
us in every room.”
The master suite had two bedrooms separated by a sliding door. A specialized
bathroom featured a large roll-in shower with mounted and handheld shower
heads, plus a customized toilet area. A lift mechanism was planned for
Michele’s bedroom to help move her.
Michele had Rett syndrome, a nervous system disorder that struck before she
was 2 years old. She couldn’t walk or talk, and required constant care.
