The Pleasures of Growing Up With Cheesecake
I grew up a bit differently from most children. I preferred meat, fruit and even some vegetables to desserts. I know that the parents reading this are thinking that they wish their offspring could be more like I was. My unique appetite may have had something to do with my mother feeding me baby foods until I was about twenty-eight years old. As I think about it, the folks at Gerber didn't produce a pureed version of German chocolate cake.
I also ate very little candy. After I would come home from trick or treating every Halloween night, my mother would make me dump my goodies on the floor, where we would both seat ourselves, cross-legged. We would sort them into three piles. Into one of those piles would go everything that was made by the generous Mrs. Robertson. Those went straight into the garbage, because Mom was sure that Mrs. Robertson let her fourteen cats walk all over the kitchen counters. The second pile contained a couple of apples and a small box of raisins. Those were deemed suitable for me. I can't say for certain what happened to the third grouping--the one that contained all the candy, the caramel apples and the popcorn balls. As soon as the sorting was finished, my mom hastily took those into my parent's bedroom. They never again appeared. My only tastes of candy came when I visited my one pair of grandparents. (My other grandparents just read me Bible verses all day, and convince me that God was not particularly enthusiastic about any behavior of a typical child.)
In defense of my mother, I believe that this sort of behavior is taught in the top secret motherhood school. I noticed that when my son was growing up, his mother hid all his candy after Halloween, too. However my wife has never revealed the exact curriculum of this top secret school.
When I became a full fledged adult at the magical age of twenty-nine, I began to learn that applesauce, vegetables and meat in their natrual form do not really have the same texture. I also discovered the wonders of dessert in the wonderful form of a gourmet cheesecake. Actually, I now know that the word gourmet is rarely applied to anything that comes from the discount grocery store in an ugly box with a small cellophane peep hold. The cheesecake turned out to be mostly chemicals--delicious chemicals. Remember that my taste buds had been accustomed to the miracle recipes of the baby food makers. To me, the cheesecake was the definition of heaven.
Later in life, as I belatedly went through my experimental wild years, I learned that cheesecake could taste much less like cardboard than my first sample. I also discovered that cheesecake can come in a variety of flavors besides blueberry.
Dessert is now my favorite time of day. The best way to top off a well balanced meal of two jars of meat, three jars of thoroughly squashed squash and a banana is with a turtle cheesecake. But please don't tell my mother; she'll just take it from me.
The saddest part of this story is that I don't even know how to make a cheesecake. Please tell me if you have a good recipe. Make sure that your recipe doesn't require using either an oven or a whisk. I do know how to use a blender, though, because I watched my mom prepare the Thanksgiving turkey one year.

phantom energy condenser microphone into pc?
I've an AKG Perception 200 along with a AKG phantom energy box. For now the only real factor I must test it is indeed my pc. I blocked an XLR cable in the mic towards the box. Then went an XLR to at least oneOr4" from that towards the pc seem card mic input. I recieve seem nevertheless its very loooowww. I had been expecting this combination to become very noisy. Is that this just an issue with the way in which its connected? Does it need to link right into a balanced mixer or something like that?
Interesting info. That assisted me have it going correctly. Because it switched out my PC onboard seem sucks. And So I installed my Seem Blaster card also it nicely increased the mic signal 1000%. Sounds great!
If all you are doing is passing on phantom energy then you are missing an increase stage. Microphones released an very quiet signal that's then increased with a couple kind of pre-amplifier. If you've just got a DI box or something like that along that line then you will want a pre-amplifier also to have it as much as line level.
