Verizon - A Pathetic Company
Verizon is a pathetic company, but many, if not most or even all, of the Baby Bells operate the same way. Indeed, potentially all telecoms steal, but this article will only touch on the egregiousness exhibited by Verizon, for billing atrocities that once caused the company to be fined twenty-five million dollars yes, that is 2 and 5 followed by six zeroes after them. But that is nothing compared to what they notched up in their very first six years of existence: three hundred million dollars a 3 followed by ten zeroes! Yet one of their recent CEOs retired freely after a number of years of making fifty-four million bucks per annum. Ever ask why it costs so much to have a telephone?
Cell phones are far worse, naturally, as anyone born before the devices might understand. But , anyway, most important things first: at the beginning, there was Ma Bell, more officially known as Atlantic Telephone Telegraph, or AT&T for short. For just about a century it was the biggest company in the world, employing all of one million people+ and handling American telephony in its entirety. However , the times modified, and the new political climate did not favor monopolies. The company was split up in the early '80s, split up into separate regional companies jointly nicknamed Baby Bells. thus, some handled only the Southwest, others the eastern seaboard, and still others the heartland of the country. Verizon, at the time known as Bell Atlantic, received part of the northeast as its territory.
Curiously in the twenty years since their split, the Baby Bells have regularly acquired one another, reuniting to form bigger companies ; therefore for example, Nynex. In actual fact this process commenced in the first decade of their break up, as a natural business process under the philosophy where enlargement is considered key to survival. And as the first reason for government intervention appeared to once have been resolved ( because the telecommunications industry finally admitted of some real competition ), they were pretty much left alone by the govt. which, in a democracy, can mean changing policies depending on the political climate.
Left alone indeed! Rather than a countrywide monopoly, it transpired that all the presidency did was put regional monopolies in its place which monopolies proceeded to re-gel by purchasing each other up such that out of the first 8 different firms there remain only 3 firms today. And these 3 companies, of which Verizon is one, are pulling in the cash like it's Christmas and Hanukah every day of the week, with all sorts of charges, charges, and surcharges on top of paying for any phone calls actually made! And that is just the beginning of the gravy train, what with intentional overbilling and tax breaks for major infrastructure projects never delivered.

Middle Atlantic Rack Mount Fans?
I saw these on the internet and was wondering if anyone knows anything about them.Ive been wanting to buy dual fans to keep my gear cool but was wondering is there's an on/off switch? All i see is a plate with two fans mounted and two sets of power cords. So do these stay on 24/7,just to add if you had experience in this brand or any other brand that makes rack mounted fans get at me plz...Thanks
Middle Atlantic is a great company. The other answerer may be right about the thermostat.
My advice would be to avoid fans unless your racks are in a area with poor air circulation. If they are not really needed all they will do is make noise and use electricity. Most devices like audio power amps that generate a lot of heat already have fans built in.
If you position your rack mounted equipment with some space in between you probably will not have heat buildup.
